Communication

Giving a speech or lecture is the process of articulating a thought or idea, but communication requires that the thought or idea is actually received and understood by one or more people. It has been said, “If you are leading and no one is following, you are just out taking a walk.”

The same can be said about communicating effectively,

“If you are talking and no one understands, you are wasting everyone's time.”

Effective communication requires a sender, a receiver, and an understood message. Based on an understanding of the four Peoplemap™ personality types, we focus the communication process on ‘how a person hears’ as much as 'how it is communicated.' This simple but effective skill set is often the difference between dissonance and maximizing your potential, for you and for your team.

Peoplemap™ participants have reported that as a result of our training they:

  • Understand and can communicate with others more effectively. A 102% positive increase in effectiveness was reported after training occurred.

  • Being a Team player and feeling a sense of team cohesion was reported at a 60% increase in effectiveness after training.

  • More successfully managing conflicts and disagreements with others as a result of understanding their own and others' personality types received an 86% positive increase in effectiveness after training occurred.

  • Have more patience with others, less stress and are more focused and productive at work. A 69% positive increase in effectiveness was reported after training occurred.

In addtion, supervisors report that as a result of Peoplemap™ training they are better able to understand the people they supervise, and are able to communicate more effectively, a 64% increase. They are also able to form a more cohesive team, 75% increase. And finally, supervisors were able to get more results, work productivity from the people they supervise rated a 56% increase after training. Supervisors also reported they get more results and better work productivity from those they supervise because they understand how to motivate each personality type.

EFFECTIVENESS OF OUR PROGRAMS

The Peoplemap™ System is designed to create results that help any organization. The bottom line... We deliver the results you need! Our research documents our success at developing these critical skills and our success in causing people to use these skills for years.

Does Peoplemap™ Training achieve sustained results?

We have conducted training with nine different companies, with over 525 employees being pre and post tested using our Impact Survey. Post testing occurred immediately after training, three months after training, one year after training, 18 months after training, and two years after training.

People have reported that as a result of Peoplemap™ training they:

  • Understand and can communicate with others more effectively. A 102% positive increase in effectiveness was reported after training occurred.

  • Being a Team player and feeling a sense of team cohesion was reported at a 60% increase in effectiveness after training.

  • More successfully managing conflicts and disagreements with others as a result of understanding their own and others' personality types received an 86% positive increase in effectiveness after training occurred.

  • Have more patience with others, less stress and are more focused and productive at work. A 69% positive increase in effectiveness was reported after training occurred.

Additionally, 175 supervisors report that as a result of Peoplemap™ training they are better able to understand the people they supervise, and are able to communicate more effectively, a 64% increase. They are also able to form a more cohesive team, 75% increase. Supervisors were able to get more results and work productivity from the people they supervise rated a 56% increase after training. Supervisors also reported they get more results and better work productivity from those they supervise because they understand how to motivate each personality type.

The results of the Impact Surveys strongly support that substantial positive changes occur after Peoplemap™ training programs have been completed. These changes have to do with creating greater interpersonal effectiveness in a variety of areas: communication, conflict management, and job productivity. Up to two years after training, people report significant behavior changes in understanding and relating to others more successfully. There is no doubt that these positive changes will have a life long effect.

Validity and Reliability of the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire

The Peoplemap™ System has researched both the reliability and the validity of the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire. We hired an outside source, a test and measurements psychologist to measure its' validity. (i.e., Does the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire measure what it purports to measure — in this case four personality types?) Also reliability, will the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire be consistent over time? (i.e., will the results be the same if you took the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire today and again six weeks from now?)

For validity the Peoplemap™ personality types of Leader, People, Free Spirit, and Task were compared to comparable types on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator and the Kiersey Temperament Sorter. The results on over 100 people indicated that the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire is valid at a statistically significant level.

The reliability of the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire was determinate by 25 people taking the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire and then one year later taking it again. The results were again statistically significant: the vast majority of people, 90%, had identical scores a year apart. The results indicate that the Peoplemap™ Questionnaire accurately measures personality traits consistently over time.

Knowing what you want to say is extremely important, but if you express it in a manner that is not understood,

how can your long term objectives be acheived?
